Upcoming closures set this week for I-2/I-69C Interchange Project

PHARR — Some upcoming closures for the I-2/I-69C Interchange Project are in store this week, according to a release by Dragados-Pulice Joint Venture. 

Closures are for construction activities pertaining to the project and are set to undergo nightly closures until April 22.

I-2 Westbound Frontage Road 
The I-2 westbound frontage road in McAllen — which lies between Jackson Road and Jackson Avenue — is scheduled to be closed nightly starting Monday until April 22. The closures will be from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. 

Closures for Underpasses
Also starting on Monday, three underpasses will undergo nightly closures, the release said. The underpasses include Jackson Road underpass at I-2, Cage Boulevard underpass at I-2, as well as the U.S. Business 83 underpass at I-2.

The closures will be nightly from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. until April 22.

Lane Closures
Nightly lane closures are scheduled to start tonight and are expected to finish Monday, April 22.

I-2 eastbound frontage road
There will be a left lane closure on the I-2 eastbound frontage road. The road lies between the Cesar Chavez exit ramp and Nebraska Avenue. The closures will start tonight until Wednesday, April 17.

The times for the nightly closures will be:

• Friday: 11 p.m. to 7 a.m.
• Saturday: 9 p.m. to 8 a.m.
• Sunday: 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
• Monday-Tuesday: 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Closure on I-2 westbound (Nebraska Avenue and Veterans Boulevard)
A right lane closure is set to start Monday until Sunday, April 21. The lane closure will be on the I-2 westbound main lanes, which lies between Nebraska Avenue and the Veterans Boulevard exit ramp in San Juan.

The times for the closures will be: 

• Monday-Thursday: 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
• Friday: 11 p.m. to 7 a.m.
• Saturday: 9 p.m. to 8 a.m.

Closure on I-2 eastbound main lanes
Starting Tuesday, on the I-2 eastbound main lanes, there will be a right lane closure. The lanes lie between the Cesar Chavez exit ramp and Stewart Road.

The times for the closures will be:

• Tuesday-Thursday: 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Closure on I-2 westbound (Nebraska Avenue)
A right lane closure on the I-2 westbound main lanes is scheduled as well. The lanes are between the Nebraska Avenue exit ramp and Nebraska Avenue.

The times for the closures will be:

• Wednesday-Friday: 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

I-2 westbound frontage road
A left lane closure on I-2 westbound frontage road is slated to start Thursday, April 18. It lies between Nebraska Avenue and Veterans Boulevard.

The times for the closures will be:

• Thursday-Saturday: 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Traffic will be intermittently slowed and all work is weather permitting, the release said. Drivers are reminded to stay alert when traveling down the construction zones and to practice safe driving.
