Community Health Fair to offer resources to public

Special to the Advance

The McAllen Public Library invites the public to participate in a day of health and vitality at the second annual Palm View Community Health Fair.

This free event, which takes place at the Palm View Branch Community Center on Friday, April 19 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., will offer a comprehensive array of health screenings, educational resources from community partners, and engaging activities to promote well-being for individuals and families alike.

Attendees will have the opportunity to receive complimentary health screenings, including tests for blood glucose, high blood pressure, BMI, and fatty liver, providing valuable insights into their current health status. Knowledgeable healthcare professionals will be on hand to provide guidance and answer questions regarding the results.

In addition to health screenings, the health fair will feature informative sessions on healthy eating habits and the importance of staying active at any age. Participants can join an invigorating Zumba session led by Xochitl Castillo and group exercises conducted by Tru-Fit Athletic Clubs, empowering individuals to embrace an active lifestyle. Exciting raffle items, nutritious snacks, and giveaways will also be available throughout the event.

“We are excited to announce this year’s Palm View Community Health Fair, where we aim to offer vital health services and empower individuals to make their well-being a top priority,” stated Kate Horan, Library Director. “This event reaffirms our dedication to fostering health and vitality across all age groups within our community.”
