Godly Plans, Godly Goads (Part III of III)

Considerations

By Chris Voss

Acts 26:14 (Jesus speaking), “It is hard for you (Paul) to kick against the goads.”

Jesus said from Heaven directly to Paul that God had been working in Paul’s life to change Paul’s heart and mind concerning Jesus and the holy faith. Certain people, events, circumstances, opportunities, and more, had come into Paul’s life, because of God, to show Paul the truth of the Gospel story, to change the direction of his life.

Heaven had a plan and purpose for Paul, but like most of us, Paul resisted God’s truth, resisted God’s call. Paul, like most of us, kicked against those Godly goads that were telling him his life was going in the wrong direction. But Paul finally listened to God and changed his life dramatically. And so can we.

God plainly states he has plans and a purpose for each of our lives. Furthermore, God will use Godly goads in our lives to influence our hearts and minds, and therefore, the spiritual direction of our lives.

Few examples of Godly goads are:

• When we feel ashamed for not speaking up for God’s truth, that is a Godly goad.

• A particular Godly person who influences our thinking, that is a Godly goad.

• A life- changing experience draws us close to God, that is a Godly goad.

In your life today, you may feel anguish and frustration that you have continuously credited to Satan. I would have you also remember and consider the goads of God.

We are all inclined to want to back up a little in our standards or even compromise our faith. We are all inclined to want to kick up our heels in rebellion to God.

But it is the goads from God that keeps us within His purpose, within His plans, within our destiny, which is eternity, in Heaven. If only we will spiritually listen, spiritually watch, and spiritually understand the work of God in our lives and not rebel and resist, like Paul, the goads of God.
